The Birthplace of Country Music Museum explores how evolving sound technology shaped the success of the 1927 Bristol Sessions and highlights how this rich musical heritage still thrives in the Appalachian region and beyond. Through multiple theater experiences, interactive and stationary displays – along with a variety of educational programs, music performances, and community events – the exciting story of these recording sessions and their far-reaching influence comes alive. Rotating exhibitions from guest curators and other institutions, including the Smithsonian, are featured throughout the year in the Special Exhibits Gallery. The museum also houses a collection of related objects, photographs, ephemera, and a digital archive.An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, our museum tells the story of the 1927 Bristol Sessions, the influential recordings that sparked the “big bang of country music,” and continue to inspire the music of today.
The annual music Festival began in 2001 and has been a part of BCM since December, 2012. A 2015 Economic Impact Study showed that visitors to the Festival from outside the region had a $16.1 million impact on the region. The Festival generally hosts over 130 bands on 20 stages in downtown Bristol during the third weekend in September. Attendance has grown to approximately 45,000. Among its many accolades the Festival has been named as one of Rolling Stone’s “Top 20 Tours and Festivals”, and has won a Grand Pinnacle Award from the International Festival and Events Association.

Chattahoochee Forest-50 Miles-Best Ride in Georgia
TheGeorgiaDragon.com motorcycle ride is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Georgia with its 50.5 miles of twisties, curves and magnificent scenery is definitely one of the best motorcycle roads in Georgia. Seasoned Motorcycle riders will find the road challenging due to the elevation changes. Take this ride a bit slower to enjoy the spectacular scenery. Two National Forests-114 Miles-1 Grisly Murder
The Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride is an exhilarating and thrilling adventure that takes riders through the picturesque yet mysterious landscapes of North Carolina. This ride combines the adrenaline rush of motorcycle riding with the intrigue of exploring the infamous Murder of Charlie Silvers took place in 1830. After a short ride on US Hwy 19E, it turns north on NC 80 through Kona, where the infamous murder happened before Christmas in 1831. The legend is told that Frankie Silvers wife to Charlie Silvers, killed her husband with an axe in a fit of jealous rage. The Virginia Creeper Trail is a recreational trail (rails to trails) located in Southwest Virginia (SWVA). The Virginia Creeper stretches 34 miles from Abingdon, Virginia down through to the lovely town of Damascus, Va (known as the Heart of the Va Creeper) along the Whitetop Laurel River and up to its highest point Whitetop Station near the NC State Line at Whitetop, Virginia. The Va Creeper Trail is open year round for trail runs, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. This former rail bed passes through the Mount Rogers National Recreation area and the highland country of southwest Virginia. The Virginia Creeper Trail is rich in beauty and regional history. This is an easy biking adventure that you, your friends, and family will talk about for a long time. Start at one of the Creeper Trails bike shops in Damascus for a bike rental and shuttle services to the top and take a leisurely ride downhill 17 miles to town. On this section of the trail (Whitetop to Damascus) you will ride your rental bike from Whitetop Station down to historic Green Cove Station. Then travel through the Jefferson National Forest to the community of Taylors Valley along the Laurel River (watch out for the trout in the stream) back to Damascus. Then grab a bite at one of our tasty local restaurants, pick up a few t-shirts and souvenirs, and spend the night in one of our towns comfy beds. You will love it here!

Walhalla SC – Highlands NC – 30 Miles-3 States
The ThreeState28.com motorcycle ride Start in Walhalla, SC and head north on route 28 for 32 miles. Cross the SC/GA border, stay on route 28, cross the GA/NC border, and head into Highlands, NC. Blacktop S turns, sweepers and hairpins wind up and down the hills with glimpses of the mountains and the valleys throughout the ride along with twisties and elevation changes. This ride runs through the Sumter and Nantahala national forests with mountains, rivers and waterfalls and crossing through three states. Not a lot between Walhalla and Highlands, so, fill up before you leave Walhalla. No restaurants or other facilities for miles.
There are three rides on highway 28, the first section riding from South to North is the ThreeState28.com. This motorycle ride is 32 miles from Walhalla SC to Highlands NC, the second part is the Moonshiner 28 from Highlands NC to Franklin NC and the thrird part is TheHellbender28.com is from Franklin NC To Deals Gap NC 22 miles.

GSM National Park-42.9 Miles-3 Sections
The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride is a thrilling journey through the picturesque foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Riders can expect sweeping curves, breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, a perfect balance of challenging twists and turns, combined with serene natural beauty. The finished highways of the Foothills Parkway are divided into four parts. Each part that is completed is some of the most beautiful landscapes in all four seasons and worth the effort in making it a worthwhile ride. The Western Segment is 33 miles at the southern portion of the parkway from US129 in Chilhowee TN to US 321 in Wears Valley TN. This section can be easily accessed after taking the US129DragonsTail.com or “Tail of the Dragon” motorcycle ride. The Eastern Segment is 5.6 miles at the most northern portion and can be accessed from Interstate I-40 from Hartford TN traveling towards Cosby TN. The third segment completed they call the “Foothills Parkway Spur” which is 4.3 miles long and starts in Gatlinburg and ends in Pigeon Forge. The remainder, “Missing Link” section is still being constructed. The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride promises an unforgettable experience for all who embark on it. Choose from a variety of camping options at our NASCAR campground in Bluff City, Tennessee. We have never flooded, always stay above water with us. Hicks White Top Campground is just across Highway 394 from Bristol Speedway and the perfect place to stay for NASCAR fans attending the races. A free shuttle bus to the speedway stops near the campground entrance.
We offer A Quiet area upon request and regular camping areas. We offer camping with and without hook-ups in most all of our sections, including some sites with full hook-ups. We have ice vending and a deli open for breakfast, lunch, and Dinner on site. We offer a year-to-year renewal service that’s ideal for season ticket holders and saves you money!

The Snake 421 is also known as “The Best of the Snake,” and is a sample of some of the best of the combination of roads that make up the rides known collectively as “The Snake”. The series of roads that make up The Snake travels 112 miles and is a heavily traveled Motorcycle and Sport Car Ride. The Snake 421, aka The Best of the Snake, is a really nice 37 mile section of The Snake, offering 489 curves while crossing 3 mountains and traveling through one beautiful valley. It travels through Johnson County, Tennessee and Washington County, Virginia. It is considered by many as one of America’s favorite chartered Motorcycle and Sport Car Rides. This ride has something for everyone from new riders to experienced riders. This is a ride you will want to experience.
