This is a new campground conveniently located right outside of Mountain City, Tennessee, at the base of Iron Mountain, directly adjacent to The Snake 421 route. They are a small cozy campground that has (10) full service campsites offering electricity, water and sewer. They accommodate all types of camping from tent camping to luxury campers and RV’s. They are riders and cater to their fellow riders. They are also one of our Official Information Centers for The Snake 421, aka the Best of the Snake, and can provide you with any information needed to travel this scenic ride. They can also provide any information needed to travel the entire combination of roads collectively making up The Snake. Their huge Map Wall also showcases several other great nearby chartered Motorcycle and Sport Car Rides.
The Purpose of Cherokee Cove is to provide a quiet, peaceful place where you, your family, or your group can come for a get-away. In order to promote peace and rest, we do not have public internet or televisions with cable or satellite. Cell coverage is limited as well. We consider this a blessing in today’s world where technology is oftentimes a distraction to healthy communication.
Cherokee Cove Family Christian Camp is located within approximately 200 private acres in the mountains of Northeast Tennessee, bordering the Cherokee National Forest.

We went looking for the perfect place to start our next adventure and fell in love with Damascus, VA. Now we are making The Dancing Bear our own and we want to share it with you.

Eagle Crest Lodge originally started as a horse barn near Abingdon, Virginia. It wasn’t until we got a hold of it that its whole “life” changed. The barn went from five horse stalls and a hayloft, to a cozy lodge with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, two living rooms, two kitchens, and two laundry rooms, as well as plenty of porches and people.
ECL is located 7 miles from Abingdon, VA and the Barter Theater, 3 miles to the Virginia Creeper trail,, 15 minutes to Damascus, VA for bike rentals to ride the Creeper Trail, 20 minutes to the Bristol Speedway, 1 hour to see the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands State Park, and 2 hours from Asheville, NC. Best of all it is a great location to enjoy water sports on the South Holston Lake, and only 30 feet to our favorite family story telling area: our fire pit!
Backbone Rock Campground is open for the 2021 season. Backbone Rock Campground is a small campground situated along the beautiful Beaverdam Creek at an elevation of 2,100 feet in northern Johnson County. This developed campground is popular with those visiting the nearby Backbone Rock, a tunnel originally blasted through the rock ridge for the railway. The creek side location with popular swim area and lush forest surroundings make Backbone Rock Campground particularly desirable during hot summer months. With 10 campsites and an adjacent large Civilian Conservation Corps- built reservable pavilion with lawn, Backbone Rock is a great option for a group to reserve the whole campground for retreats and other events.

Creeper Trail Campground is the best place to camp while riding the Virginia Creeper Trail. We are located at the start of the trail in Whitetop, VA. Riders can begin their ride directly from the campground and enjoy riding the entire trail to Abingdon, VA (34 miles) or to Damascus, VA (17 miles). Shuttle services are available to return you and your bike to Whitetop.
Creeper Trail Campground is a small mountain campground at 3534 ft elevation. We are located on a former Christmas Tree farm. Enjoy some of the most beautiful outdoor recreation sites in Virginia including hiking to see the wild ponies in the Grayson Highlands or visiting the two highest peaks in Virginia (Mt. Rogers 5728′ and Whitetop Mtn. 5518′).

Today I visited the Damascus Diner for lunch. The entire experience was wonderful!! The Diner has a charming atmosphere, the staff is warm and super friendly and the food was mouth-watering! It was definitely worth the drive from Kingsport!! I will be back!
