Backbone Rock Campground is open for the 2024 season. Backbone Rock Campground is a small campground situated along the beautiful Beaverdam Creek at an elevation of 2,100 feet in northern Johnson County. This developed campground is popular with those visiting the nearby Backbone Rock, a tunnel originally blasted through the rock ridge for the railway. The creek side location with popular swim area and lush forest surroundings make Backbone Rock Campground particularly desirable during hot summer months. With 10 campsites and an adjacent large Civilian Conservation Corps- built reservable pavilion with lawn, Backbone Rock is a great option for a group to reserve the whole campground for retreats and other events.

Pisgah National Forest-81 Miles in NC-8 Waterfalls
The Copperhead motorcycle ride is a thrilling and scenic route that takes riders through the beautiful landscapes of North Carolina. This ride is known for its winding roads, breathtaking views, and challenging terrain. The ride start in the North Carolina Town of Brevard, southwest of Asheville, and continues in the Pisgah Forest on Route 276 NC. The first waterfall you must stop at the famous Looking Glass Falls. Riders can expect to navigate tight curves and steep inclines as they make their way through the picturesque mountains and forests of Woodrow NC down Route 215 NC towards Rosman. 130 curves-22 Miles-Largest Dam East of the Rockies
TheHellbender28.com motorcycle road is located in North Carolina and is a 22-mile ride between Johnson Gap in Stecoah, NC traveling to Deals Gap at the beginning of the Dragon. From Johnson Gap, The Hellbender starts its way through the beautiful smoky mountains with challenging turns for cars and motorcyclists. On the way you will pass by several unique locations such as Fontana Lake where there are pull-offs to take a photo of the views. Then continuing on you will cross the top of the Fontana Dam, and Fontana Lake. This dam was created as a hydro electrical power facility for World War II by the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1942. The dam is 480 feet high and 2,365 feet across the Little Tennessee River and is the highest dam east of the Rocky Mountains. The 2000 plus famous hiking trail, the Appalachian Trail also crosses the top of Fontana Dam. After passing Fontana Village, a peaceful lake resort you end up at the end of this 22-mile run which dead ends in to highway US129 the beginning of Dragon.
