The Birthplace of Country Music Museum explores how evolving sound technology shaped the success of the 1927 Bristol Sessions and highlights how this rich musical heritage still thrives in the Appalachian region and beyond. Through multiple theater experiences, interactive and stationary displays – along with a variety of educational programs, music performances, and community events – the exciting story of these recording sessions and their far-reaching influence comes alive. Rotating exhibitions from guest curators and other institutions, including the Smithsonian, are featured throughout the year in the Special Exhibits Gallery. The museum also houses a collection of related objects, photographs, ephemera, and a digital archive.An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, our museum tells the story of the 1927 Bristol Sessions, the influential recordings that sparked the “big bang of country music,” and continue to inspire the music of today.

The annual music Festival began in 2001 and has been a part of BCM since December, 2012. A 2015 Economic Impact Study showed that visitors to the Festival from outside the region had a $16.1 million impact on the region. The Festival generally hosts over 130 bands on 20 stages in downtown Bristol during the third weekend in September. Attendance has grown to approximately 45,000. Among its many accolades the Festival has been named as one of Rolling Stone’s “Top 20 Tours and Festivals”, and has won a Grand Pinnacle Award from the International Festival and Events Association.

The Birthplace of Country Music is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to perpetuate, promote, and celebrate Bristol’s rich musical heritage; to educate and engage audiences worldwide regarding the history, impact and legacy of the 1927 Bristol Sessions from which we derive our name; and to create recognition, opportunities, and economic benefit for our local and regional communities. BCM accomplishes this mission through its three primary branches (Museum, Festival, and Radio), special projects and events, and a multitude of community and educational outreach programs. Welcome to Switchback Creek Campground.We are a motorcycle and family friendly campground located in the mountains of North East Tennessee built by a rider. If you are tired of the hype and hustle of Deals Gap but would like exciting roads and beautiful  mountain scenery then you have come to the right place. We are snuggled between three mountains at an  elevation of 3,000 feet and just 2 1/2 miles from the crossroads US 421 and  91/133.

 Take  a leisurely ride on any of the roads leading out of Shady Valley or gather with a group and ride “the  snake ” . There are 489 curves within a 12 mile radius of the crossroads.

Abingdon Vineyards was founded in 2001 by retired engineers, Bob Carlson & Janet Nordin. In the summer of 2018, the Gardners moved from California to Virginia to build the legacy.Abingdon Vineyards is truly a community effort with a wonderful team & many volunteers that help tend to the land, grapes, wine & guests!

Our cabins are conveniently located to downtown Damascus, Abingdon and only 35 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway. Ride your bikes into town to catch a shuttle, grab a meal or just enjoy an ice cream. For any last minute forgotten items Food City Grocery is close by.

All our cabins come with a fully stocked kitchen. Microwave, toaster, oven, french press, and drip coffee pot with filters. You will find glasses, silverware, plates, mugs, pots and pans and all the basic supplies you will need to conduct basic cooking or food preparation in your cabin.

Bed linens, bath and kitchen towels are provided.

All of the cabins have a full bathroom.

A series of four waterfalls located on Holston Mountain in the Stoney Creek community of Carter County, TN. The falls’ name, Blue Hole Falls, comes from the deep blue pool in front of waterfall #3 (the main fall).
