Backbone Rock Campground is open for the 2024 season. Backbone Rock Campground is a small campground situated along the beautiful Beaverdam Creek at an elevation of 2,100 feet in northern Johnson County. This developed campground is popular with those visiting the nearby Backbone Rock, a tunnel originally blasted through the rock ridge for the railway. The creek side location with popular swim area and lush forest surroundings make Backbone Rock Campground particularly desirable during hot summer months. With 10 campsites and an adjacent large Civilian Conservation Corps- built reservable pavilion with lawn, Backbone Rock is a great option for a group to reserve the whole campground for retreats and other events.

The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride is a thrilling journey through the picturesque foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Riders can expect sweeping curves, breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, a perfect balance of challenging twists and turns, combined with serene natural beauty. The finished highways of the Foothills Parkway are divided into four parts. Each part that is completed is some of the most beautiful landscapes in all four seasons and worth the effort in making it a worthwhile ride. The Western Segment is 33 miles at the southern portion of the parkway from US129 in Chilhowee TN to US 321 in Wears Valley TN. This section can be easily accessed after taking the US129DragonsTail.com or “Tail of the Dragon” motorcycle ride. The Eastern Segment is 5.6 miles at the most northern portion and can be accessed from Interstate I-40 from Hartford TN traveling towards Cosby TN. The third segment completed they call the “Foothills Parkway Spur” which is 4.3 miles long and starts in Gatlinburg and ends in Pigeon Forge. The remainder, “Missing Link” section is still being constructed. The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride promises an unforgettable experience for all who embark on it. TheGeorgiaDragon.com motorcycle ride is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Georgia with its 50.5 miles of twisties, curves and magnificent scenery is definitely one of the best motorcycle roads in Georgia. For my motorcycle rides we will go with the local name aka Georgia Dragon as I have another great ride called the SuchesLoop.com. Seasoned Motorcycle riders will find the road challenging due to the elevation changes. Take this ride a bit slower to enjoy the spectacular scenery. TheGeorgiaDragon.com motorcycle ride starts in the town of Dahlonega (First major US town gold rush back in 1828) and runs north on Route 60, then merging with US-19 and then turn right on to Route 180 called Wolfpen Gap Road steep elevation changes and switchbacks. The ride continues through the mountains to US Highway 129/19. Then make a right and head south back to Dahlonega to complete the Georgia Dragon!
